Utilities Process Engineer (Client side) - Staff - London

Location: London

This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing clean tech engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the Renewable Energy sector.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Undertake process engineering activities as required for studies, projects and consultancy.
  • Collaborate as part of the process engineering team.
  • Undertake work on client sites providing technical advice and operational support services.
  • Develop the scope of work / basis of design for studies and projects.
  • Checking the quality of engineering contractor design work to ensure compliance with agreed client design specifications.
  • Undertake and checking of process calculations.
  • Preparation and checking of process deliverables – PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, process descriptions, philosophies and narratives.
  • Supporting the vendor management and selection process during the conceptual stage.
  • Perform safety related calculations and provide input to safety reviews – What If, Hazop SIL Assessment, etc.
  • Utilise process simulation software as required for the development of process deliverables.
  • Attend in-house and site-based meetings / reviews with clients.
  • Undertake short and long-term business travel in support of studies, projects and consultancy.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Must be Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering.
  • Chartered status highly advantageous though not essential.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas projects during either conceptual engineering, FEED or detailed design.
  • Experience in other major energy such as Energy from Waste or similar will also be highly advantageous.
  • Previous site experience in conjunction with a design background beneficial.
  • Planning and organising, communication, team working and problem solving.
  • Good level of numeracy, literacy and IT knowledge.
