MMP Consultancy is looking for a skilled and motivated Building Control Surveyor to join our Building Control team within a Local Authority based in Southeast London. This role offers the opportunity for career progression through a structured grading scheme, on initially a 6 month temporary contract subject to likely extension or to be made permanent.

Candidates will need to be at least grade 2f, but ideally will be 3G. Please only apply if you are on the Building Control Register at this grade, although please get in touch if you are a Building Control professional at a lower level as we are seeking 2a's+ elsewhere.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess building plans and proposals in line with relevant legislation and issue decisions within statutory time limits.
  • Inspect building sites to ensure compliance with the Building Act and Regulations.
  • Verify fees and charges associated with Building Regulation proposals.
  • Manage complaints and breaches of building regulations, including preparing legal notices.
  • Liaise with the public, developers, other authorities, and Council Members on technical building control matters.
  • Represent the section at internal and external meetings and contribute to strategic committees.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in building control and regulatory matters.
  • Strong communication skills to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage site inspections and provide accurate records.
  • Full UK driving licence as this is an Essential Car Users Post.
  • At least grade 2f on the Building Control Register
