Key Responsibilities:- Assess and approve building control applications, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, statutory requirements, and local policies.
- Carry out site inspections at all stages of construction to verify adherence to approved plans and safety standards.
- Provide professional advice and guidance to developers, architects, contractors, and the public on building regulations and construction best practices.
- Investigate and address dangerous structures and unauthorised works, taking appropriate enforcement action when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, assessments, and decisions in accordance with council procedures.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to support safe and sustainable developments.
- Qualified Professional: Degree in building surveying, construction, or a related field, with membership (or working towards) of a professional body such as RICS, CABE, or CIOB.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of Building Regulations, construction standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Practical Experience: Demonstrated experience in building control, plan checking, and site inspections.
- Problem-Solver: Ability to identify risks, assess compliance, and propose effective solutions.
- Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
