Building Surveyor - Historic Building Expertise and Collaborative Projects

A leading architectural, heritage, and masterplanning practice based in Southwark is seeking a Building Surveyor to join their close-knit team.

This role offers the chance for a Building Surveyor to collaborate closely with an in-house architectural team while delivering exceptional building surveying services to private clients, with significant avenues for career progression as the team expands.



The Building Surveyor's Role

This is a unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with a strong focus on historic and grade-listed buildings across sectors such as commercial, education, residential, cultural, and hospitality.

  • Conduct condition surveys, defect diagnosis, and technical due diligence.
  • Provide advice on the maintenance, refurbishment, and restoration of historic and grade-listed buildings.
  • Prepare schedules of works and manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Assist with planning and listed building consent applications.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while liaising with stakeholders to ensure project success.


The Ideal Building Surveyor Will Have

  • A degree in Building Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience working on historic or grade-listed buildings (preferred).
  • A strong understanding of building pathology and statutory compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to manage workloads effectively.
