Technical Surveyor

About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Surveyor to join our dedicated team, providing specialist technical expertise in damp and mould investigations. You will be responsible for inspecting properties, identifying root causes, and ensuring effective remedial works are carried out to prevent reoccurrence. This role requires a strong understanding of building pathology, health and safety regulations, and repair specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of residential properties, diagnosing damp and mould issues and identifying the root cause of defects.

  • Produce detailed reports with photographic evidence, including assessments using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).

  • Develop clear specifications for remedial works to eliminate damp and mould while addressing any underlying structural or maintenance concerns.

  • Oversee works on-site, ensuring quality control, compliance with health and safety standards, and timely completion.

  • Provide expert advice on damp and mould issues to internal and external stakeholders, including residents and contractors.

  • Attend meetings with residents, legal representatives, and other key stakeholders to provide technical insights and resolve disputes where necessary.

  • Utilise diagnostic tools and IT systems to record survey findings and maintain accurate case records.

  • Conduct post-inspection reviews to ensure that remedial works have been effective in preventing recurrence.

  • Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring best value in repair and maintenance operations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in surveying damp and mould issues and diagnosing complex building defects.

  • Strong understanding of HHSRS and building pathology.

  • Knowledge of Schedule of Rates and the ability to produce clear specifications for remedial works.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Strong customer service skills with a resident-focused approach.

  • Experience in project management and contractor supervision.

  • Proficiency in using IT systems for reporting and data management.

  • A relevant HNC/Degree in Building Surveying or membership of a recognised professional body.

  • HHSRS qualification (preferred but not essential).
