Local Authority is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Building Surveyor (Damp & Mould) to join our team and address these critical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed inspections of residential properties to identify the causes of damp, mould, and condensation issues.
  • Provide accurate assessments and comprehensive reports, including specifications for remedial works.
  • Manage repair and maintenance projects to resolve damp and mould problems, ensuring they are completed to a high standard and within budget.
  • Work closely with tenants, contractors, and internal teams to deliver effective solutions and maintain clear communication.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, housing standards, and council policies.
  • Support the council's strategy to tackle damp and mould, contributing to initiatives that promote healthier and safer living environments.
About You:
  • Qualified Professional: Degree or equivalent qualification in building surveying or a related field, and membership (or working towards) of a professional body (e.g., RICS or CIOB).
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of building construction, damp and mould issues, and their causes and remedies.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions.
  • Project Management: Experience managing repair and maintenance projects, including budgeting and contractor oversight.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to engage with residents and stakeholders in a sensitive and supportive manner.
  • Experience working in social housing or a local authority environment is highly desirable.
