The Director of Fire Engineering Role

As the Director of Fire Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the consultancy. You will be responsible for developing and nurturing client relationships, driving new business opportunities, and managing and expanding the Fire Engineering team in London. Your expertise will be crucial in overseeing projects across the commercial, high-rise, and high-end residential sectors, particularly during RIBA stages 4-6, which include technical drawings such as external wall details, fire alarm drawings, and sprinkler drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Drive business development and secure new business wins
  • Manage, grow, and develop the London Fire Engineering team
  • Oversee projects, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and standards
  • Lead client-facing meetings with authority and expertise
  • Provide strategic direction and technical guidance

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Fire Engineer
  • Ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartered status
  • Degree in Fire Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 6+ years of experience managing teams
  • Proficiency with FREAW'S (PAS 9980)
  • Extensive experience in the residential and commercial sectors
  • Strong business development skills and experience
