The Fire Engineer Role
As a member of our team, you will undertake fire engineering projects, supporting design projects both within and outside the UK. Your role will include a mix of desktop and off-site activities, with supported client interaction. Key responsibilities include:
- Producing fire strategy reports and relevant documentation
- Managing fire safety aspects, including passive and active building systems, compartmentation, occupancy levels, and fire escape provisions
- Reviewing architectural drawings for potential fire strategy risks and opportunities
- Calculating evacuation times and performing computational evacuation modelling analysis
- Solving fire engineering calculations with support, including radiant heat, smoke control, and occupant evacuations
- Communicating fire strategies to design teams and clients
- Conducting third-party design verification
- Understanding and applying UK fire safety legislation and standards
Key Requirements
- A degree in Fire Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Fire Engineer within a Fire Safety Engineering team
- Working knowledge of regulatory controls and the ability to develop and implement fire engineered design solutions
- IFE Membership (MIFireE or AIFireE)
- Thorough understanding of ADB, BS 9999, BS 9991, and BB100
