The Role

The consultancy is seeking an experienced and talented fire engineer to lead its growing fire engineering services. With professional indemnity insurance secured, the firm is expanding its fire safety and engineering offerings to meet the increasing demand from its clients. This position offers the opportunity to build and lead a team while delivering a comprehensive range of fire engineering services, including:

  • Conducting and reviewing fire risk assessments (including FRAEWs).
  • Performing design reviews and compliance assessments.
  • Interpreting data from external wall investigations.
  • Developing fire strategies and holistic fire safety reviews.
  • Advising on internal compartmentation and façade remediation.
  • Modeling fire scenarios and conducting fire engineering analysis using industry-leading software.

The role will involve collaboration with project management, cost consultancy, and façade consultancy teams on various remediation projects, from full-scale cladding replacement schemes to interim measures and compartmentation works. While the initial focus will be on high-risk residential buildings, the company intends to expand these services into other sectors.

Location
The position is national, primarily covering England and Wales, with the ideal candidate based in either the London or Manchester office.

Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of fire safety legislation and technical standards, including:

  • Building Safety Act 2022
  • Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
  • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (amended)
  • PAS 9980 and other key guidance documents
  • Fire Safety Act 2021
  • Building Regulations and Approved Documents (fire safety-related)

Candidates should hold a higher education qualification in engineering or fire safety and be either a chartered fire engineer or possess equivalent expertise. Membership in a relevant professional body is required, with chartered or incorporated engineer status being highly desirable.
