The Fire Engineer Role

As a Fire Engineer, you will play a key role in producing fire strategies for various building types across multiple sectors. You will be responsible for creating fire statements in line with the London Plan Policy and Gateway One. Additionally, you will negotiate with approval authorities on fire safety designs and proposals, conduct peer reviews of fire engineering calculations, and perform smoke modelling and evacuation analysis using both simple hand calculations and complex CFD modelling. A thorough understanding and application of UK fire safety legislation is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce comprehensive fire strategies for diverse building types.
  • Develop fire statements in accordance with London Plan Policy and Gateway One.
  • Negotiate with approval authorities on fire safety designs and proposals.
  • Conduct peer reviews of fire engineering calculations, including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis.
  • Fully understand and apply UK fire safety legislation.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the Fire Engineering field.
  • Broad experience across various projects.
  • Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers.
  • BEng or CEng in Fire Engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in a client-engaging environment.
  • Familiarity with EWS-1 and PAS 9980 standards.
