Morson Talent is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for a Roadworks Inspector - Lane Rental (CCTV Operator) to join our client in ensuring smooth and safe operations on the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN). If you have a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and an interest in infrastructure, we want to hear from you!

Role Overview:
As a Roadworks Inspector, you'll work in a shift-based role across a four-week cycle, contributing to minimizing disruption on the TLRN by conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with roadworks activities. Your role will involve using CCTV to monitor roadworks and providing crucial data to ensure statutory charges are managed effectively.

Shift Pattern:
Week One: 07:00-14:30 (Monday to Friday)
Week Two: 12:30-20:00 (Monday to Friday)
Week Three: 07:00-14:30 (Monday to Thursday), 12:00-20:00 (Saturday & Sunday)
Week Four: 12:30-20:00 (Tuesday to Friday)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections using CCTV, record evidence, and ensure compliance with New Roads & Street Works Act (NRSWA).
  • Inspect roadworks sites under the TfL Permit Scheme to ensure permit conditions are met.
  • Manage disruptive incidents during special events or out-of-hours operations, acting as the first point of contact.
  • Ensure traffic management and health and safety requirements are adhered to on-site.
  • Gather intelligence and analyze roadworks activities, compiling evidence for breaches of industry standards.
  • Maintain and audit intelligence databases to ensure timely, accurate reporting.
  • Contribute to TfL's vision of moving London forward safely, inclusively, and sustainably.

Skills Required:

  • Strong ability to produce detailed and concise reports.
  • Systematic problem-solving skills, able to meet deadlines and encourage team collaboration.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and managing large volumes of data.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team, providing cover where necessary.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • BTEC ONC or higher in Civil Engineering or equivalent, CDM qualified, and/or significant work experience.
  • Registered at Supervisor level with the National Streetworks Qualification Register (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act, and Highways Act.
  • Understanding of inspection principles relating to roadworks and highway infrastructure.
  • Full driving license and ability to drive motor cars/scooters (Desirable).

Experience:

  • Experience in the roadworks industry is essential.
  • Experience with systems like Street Manager and EToN procedures is desirable.
  • Experience representing an organization with internal and external stakeholders is a plus.
