An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled Legal Disrepair Surveyor to join a housing property services team within a local authority. This role involves managing a varied caseload and ensuring the delivery of high-quality housing services while addressing disrepair claims and related matters.

Role Overview

The Legal Disrepair Surveyor will:

  • Manage live disrepair claims, party wall awards, and repair diagnostic cases.
  • Provide technical expertise and act as an expert witness in legal proceedings, as required.
  • Conduct detailed site inspections and investigations, preparing specifications and estimates for repair work.
  • Monitor and oversee works on-site to ensure compliance with agreed standards and regulations.
  • Work closely with legal and repair teams to mitigate liability and resolve claims effectively.
  • Administer contracts and maintain accurate documentation, including budgets, reports, and work programmes.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold an HND/C or BSc in Building or have extensive building surveying experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of housing disrepair legislation, building contracts, and industry standards.
  • Be capable of managing a technical caseload efficiently and meeting deadlines.
  • Have expertise in preparing specifications, bills of quantity, and work programmes.
  • Possess experience in supervising works and administering contracts.
  • Be an excellent communicator, skilled in writing detailed reports and presenting evidence in court.
  • Be proficient in using IT systems for communication and data management.
