A London Borough is seeking an Experienced Senior Building Control Surveyor on a hybrid working basis, for a 3 to 6 month period with the potential for the role to become permanent.

You will be tasked with supervising an area of the borough to ensure compliance with building control legislation, reviewing and approving building plans, conducting site inspections to ensure construction projects comply with relevant building regulations, advising builders and homeowners on compliance and generally upholding safety standards throughout the building process.

Key Responsibilities of the Building Control Surveyor

  • Provide expert advice on the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations.
  • Undertake plan checks and review designs for compliance with Building Regulations.
  • Attend client and design team meetings, providing professional advice.
  • Conduct inspections of properties and buildings at key stages of the design process.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, recognising new business opportunities.
  • Produce end-of-design stage reports and maintain Building Regulations trackers.
  • Contribute to bid submissions and fee proposals, helping to grow the business.

Key criteria for role

  • 5 years plus relevant experience in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, codes, and associated legislation.
  • Experience working across multiple projects, with a strong understanding of the design and construction process.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Membership of RICS, CABE, or CIOB is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in software such as SharePoint and other project management tools.
  • Willingness to travel for project meetings and site inspections.

They are looking for an immediate start and can offer a salary in the region of 60p/h (umbrella rate) dependent on experience.
