We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent's Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. Our eight Royal Parks and other iconic green spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.We are now looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.The Benefits- Salary of £55,000 - £61,000 per annum, depending on experience- 26 days' annual leave plus public holidays, increasing to 29 days after 3 years’ service- Pension scheme (3% employee contribution; up to 10% employer contribution)- Hybrid/agile working options- Private medical insurance and healthcare cash plan- Employee assistance programme and access to mental health first aiders- Learning and development opportunities- Cycle to work scheme- Offices in a beautiful locationThis is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated RICS qualified building surveyor to join our renowned organisation.You’ll have the chance to maintain and enhance some of the most beautiful and historically significant public spaces in the UK, having a direct impact on ensuring these treasured parks remain accessible, safe and enjoyable for millions of visitors each year.What’s more, with plenty of opportunities for personal and professional development, you’ll be able to develop your skill set and develop a great work/life balance whilst helping to shape the future of The Royal Parks' built environment.So, if you’re ready to take on a pivotal role in preserving and enhancing the iconic Royal Parks, we’d love to hear from you!The RoleAs a Senior Building Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in the conservation, maintenance and enhancement of various historic and operational structures across the Royal Parks.Overseeing assets such as buildings, monuments, lakes, bridges and public facilities, you will ensure these are preserved and maintained in accordance with best practices, while balancing budgetary constraints and regulatory requirements.You will also manage cyclical condition surveys, oversee the Forward Maintenance Register and develop conservation and maintenance plans, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.Additionally, you will be responsible for managing budgets, reporting on Key Performance Targets (KPTs) and supervising a multi-disciplinary team of surveyors and engineers to deliver on the maintenance priorities.Additionally, you will:- Provide expert advice on building conservation and health and safety- Support the maintenance of asset registers and essential records- Oversee minor works projects and liaise with relevant teams- Provide design reviews for maintainability and constructability- Assist in preparing conservation reports and schedules for buildings occupied by third partiesAbout YouTo be considered as a Senior Building Surveyor, you will need:- Proven experience in building surveying- Knowledge and experience of Building Regulations- Experience of planning and listed building practise, the roles of Historic England and local planning authorities- Knowledge of Building Pathology- A professional RICS qualificationOther organisations may call this role Chartered Building Surveyor, Chartered Surveyor, Senior Commercial Surveyor, Senior Residential Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Senior Building Control Surveyor, or Senior Planning and Development Surveyor.We want to put everyone in the best possible position to succeed and use Recite-me accessibility software.
