Our client, a leading private medical organisation based in Central London, provide cross-sectional diagnostic imaging services to both the NHS and private sector. We are working with them to recruit a Radiology Department Assistant (RDA).
The RDA will be an integral member of the radiographic team, and involved in the provision of diagnostic imaging services using MRI and CT scanning. You will be working closely with the diagnostic radiographers, doctors and administrative staff to support the imaging pathway.
As the RDA duties will include:
To participate in and support the provision of the MRI/CT scanning service on a daily shift basis by:
- Providing safe and effective care to patients and their families as appropriate to their needs and supporting the delivery of patient centred care during examinations and procedures.
- To liaise with medical and radiographic staff within the radiology department and outside of radiology to facilitate good workflow and prompt treatment of patients.
- To undertake patient transfers as necessary, within Company policy and procedure and using approved handling aids and training as necessary.
- To undertake routine clerical duties using the Company’s radiology IT systems in accordance with Company policy and procedures, including appointments, bookings and maintenance of electronic patient records.
- To take responsibility for preparing the examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and tidy with suitable stock available for the daily worklist. The post holder will be required to undertake audit using approved templates to record the regular cleaning of examination rooms.
- To maintain stock records and an up to date stock register.
- To be responsible for own personal development and to attend mandatory training as required by the Company.
- To maintain patient confidentiality always and be aware of the implications of breaching this requirement.
- Where necessary, to be able to wear personal protective equipment and to stand for extended periods of time during radiographic procedures.
Qualification and Skills:
Essential:
- Previous experience working in a patient or customer facing role.
- Good communication skills with people of all background including a professional telephone manner.
- Grade C or above in Maths and English or an equivalent qualification.
- A high standard of verbal and written English.
- Excellent timekeeping.
- Good IT literacy including use of email.
- Ability to accurately record date and information.
- Good team working and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently carry out tasks to meet the requirements of the service.
- To act responsibly and to take appropriate action in the event of an emergency or difficult situation.
- To demonstrate compassionate care.
Desirable:
- Patient centred experience in an NHS or Private Radiology Department with prior experience of working within an MRI and/or CT environment.
- Prior experience of assisting medical staff in sterile procedures.
- Experience of basic radiology nursing, taking and recording basic patient observations.

Hours: Monday - Friday. Hours will mainly involve shifts of 9am - 5pm but flexibility will be required when procedures are booked outside of these hours which may include working 8am - 4pm or 10am - 6pm.
