They are amid an IT transformation and shifting towards a Product-centric operating model whilst increasing the maturity of the IT Service Management capabilities. This new role will be a crucial part of the team, facilitating positive change to the organisation, managing their data centre and developing their cloud capabilities based on industry best practices.

Job Description:

The Cloud Platform Engineer is critical in my client's journey to mature their cloud capabilities. This position will involve automation to simplify infrastructure provisioning and configuration. Implementing continuous improvements to their guardrails and policies to deliver secure cloud solutions.

This role will interact with various IT teams across the business, focusing on supporting and developing their cloud offering within an Azure-first environment. The candidate will have strong technical skills within Infrastructure as Code and an eagerness for continuous development within cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver based on the principal that their preferred cloud is Microsoft Azure however they do embrace a multi-cloud approach to delivering services within AWS and their on-premise facility (VMware).
  • Working closely with development teams to implement new pipelines and provide functionality, services and systems.
  • Incorporating a cost management mindset with resiliency and optimization front of mind.
  • Automation for on-premise and in the cloud using Terraform, AzureDevOps and PowerShell.
  • Working with Agile methodologies.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of Azure (including Azure Site Recovery, Regions & Zones, DNS, Virtual Machines, Networking, Storage, cost management, etc.).
  • Azure DevOps, Terraform and PowerShell skills; with the ability to understand existing pipelines & scripted solutions, write re-usable and well-written efficient code utilising functions and parameters.
  • Ability to create reports using PowerShell or PowerBI that query disparate systems and turn data into usable information. Use REST and third-party APIs to configure and query systems.
  • Demonstrable experience working in a Cloud Platform Team supporting primarily Azure - but also AWS and on-premise infrastructure.
