Infrastructure Windows Engineer - 12 month FTC

  • Up to 90k
  • 3 days in the office (city of London office)

I am representing a global investment management organisation who are looking for a highly experienced IT professional with an expert understanding of Citrix, SCCM, VDI, VMware, and PowerShell scripting, with a clear focus on desktop environments.

Key Skills Required:

  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (VDI)
  • SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager)
  • VMware
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • General Desktop Engineering

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Thin Client Management (Wyse): Automate health checks for virtual desktops after maintenance.
  • Support for Windows Server Estate: Ensure proper support and administration.
  • Automation: Identify opportunities for automation to reduce manual work.
  • Trend/Capacity Management: Ensure system resources meet requirements, and actively identify obsolescence.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teams (DevOps, Cybersecurity, Networks) to deliver solutions aligned with business needs.

Role Objectives:

  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Take a hands-on approach to identify potential system weaknesses and fix common issues at the source.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor for infrastructure-related matters.
  • Automation and Standardization: Drive the transition from manual processes to automated workflows and ensure that common standards are applied across the desktop infrastructure.

This position is part of the Infrastructure Engineering Team, which collaborates with other teams within the technology division to deliver strategic solutions for the business, focusing on maintaining an optimized desktop environment that aligns with the company's technology strategy.
