Systems Operations Engineer

VIQU have partnered with a leading logistics company known for their focus on innovation and sustainability.

They are seeking a passionate System Operations Engineer to join their Sys Ops team. The successful Systems Operations Engineer will oversee and manage both applications and their underlying cloud infrastructure. Your role will include setting up and configuring infrastructure, handling access permissions and credentials, and resolving technical issues as they arise.

Key Responsibilities of the Systems Operations Engineer:

  • Diagnosing and addressing intricate infrastructure problems across multi-server setups and high-availability systems
  • Setting up and configuring infrastructure according to directives from the infrastructure lead
  • Updating and sustaining current infrastructure
  • Overseeing the entire process of user credential management
  • Keeping an eye on applications and infrastructure, and assisting with releases
  • Collaborating with development teams to resolve advanced support issues

Key Experience Required of the Systems Operations Engineer:

  • Proven experience with AWS
  • Experienced with Linux administration
  • Understanding of ITIL Foundation concepts
  • Previous roles involving customer support
  • Experience with ticketing systems like ServiceNow
  • Proficient in using configuration management tools and infrastructure as code, including Ansible and CloudFormation
  • Experience managing Windows and Linux environments in a production setting
  • Familiarity with containerisation platforms, such as Docker
  • Skills in network management for Security Groups, VPNs, and Direct Connect configuration
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go is a plus
