Business Development Executive

We are on the hunt for a Business Development Executive to join the amiable BD team at a well-known and highly regarded international law firm. You'll receive the right support, training and opportunities to get different experience. There are lots of exciting projects within BD here! You'll be in a team with your manager and another BD Exec. This role is a 12m FTC but this client often retains good contractors as they'd rather keep them than lose them.

This firm promotes work life balance and only mandates 2 days a week in the office! Most BDEs like to come in 3 days a week, but there is flexibility and understanding that some weeks, 2 days a week works better for people.

This Business Development Executive position is a full-mix role, from events through to bid management. We've been advised it's not pitch-heavy, and the role holder will work in close cooperation with global MBD teams, Knowledge teams and the MBD services team in Newcastle. They are looking for their BD people to drive initiatives and be creative and come to them with ideas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with all aspects of planning and development of business development activity and the targeting of marketing activity.
  • The Business Development Executive will be working with the sector leadership team and BD Manager to plan and implement business plans, budget proposals and campaign plans.
  • Implementing BD and marketing activity for the sector. This includes, but is not limited to, business development, client development, profile raising, marketing and communications, pitching and event management.
  • Acting as a key point of contact and ambassador for the practice with the wider business, MBD and other key stakeholders.
  • Establishing a close and effective relationship with the lawyers and partners within the sector.
  • Producing bespoke bids, pitches, and other client development presentations/content (formal and informal).
  • Supporting client development plans and activities.
  • Supporting and delivering client events, webinars and seminars.
  • Working closely with other MBD teams, for example, the client relationship, strategic bids, events, design and digital teams, and our expanding Newcastle team.
  • Coordinating directory submissions, credentials and marketing collateral production.
  • Supporting the management of relevant MBD budgets, including reporting of ROI.
  • Contributing and leading on best practice and being curious about the possible.

The person

  • Graduate calibre Business Development Executive
  • Experience in marketing and business development is desirable, as is experience of working in a legal/professional services/partnership environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including good attention to detail.
  • A genuine interest in the Financial Institutions sector, although we've been advised that sector experience isn't essential as it's something that can be taught.
  • Highly organised with a professional, confident, collaborative and proactive approach to therole.
  • Experienced in managing and writing bids.
