Overall purpose of role of Business Development Executive

The Institute of Chartered Accountants is responsible for regulation, education, and development of the financial services profession. Its members are those working in business, typically at Financial Director/CFO level or members working in accountancy practice, ranging from the big four to smaller regional firms.

The Commercial Partnerships team are responsible for generating income through developing strategic partnerships with external organisations, with a view to aligning their marketing and engagement objectives with our technical requirements and member demographic.

The commercial partnerships executive will be responsible for proposing activity that would provide this mutual benefit, often by designing annual strategic marketing campaigns with the client and liaising with internal technical managers to align the topic. These partnerships may include the following: Bespoke events (round tables, workshops), existing events, webinars, digital and print advertising, publications, press exposure and research.

The successful candidate will be interested in business and finance with a drive to generate and execute new ideas, develop propositions, build relationship and become a leading expert in this sector. The person that will excel in this position will want to know what the next opportunity is, they will scan the news to find a commercial angle, they will see opportunity in regulation, they will be an outstanding networker with both internal and external senior finance professionals.

The Commercial Partnerships team consists of Business Development and Account Management and is supported by business operations and marketing.

Business Development Executive Responsibilities include:

  1. To identify new business opportunities through new client acquisition and growth, spotting business opportunities and working with internal stakeholders.
  1. To generate, through partnerships, a set revenue target as well as managing personal pipelines and leading on key ICAEW initiatives.
  1. To support and work with the Commercial Partnerships Account Management team on delivery of your client's program.
  1. To gain a detailed understanding of ICAEW's strategic objectives and that of our members.
  1. To gain detailed understanding of the clients' marketing and strategic objectives and to work with these to align with our own in the form of a commercial partnership.
  1. Manage a specific portfolio of relationships, including the development of new relationships with potential partners, making the best use of market intelligence, understanding their business and marketing objectives, and matching these to ICAEW's activities and plans.
  1. To develop and establish effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders to align relevant partners to their strategic objectives.

To attend relevant business / trade events to broaden knowledge and canvas new leads

Business Development Executive Candidate Profile

Business Development Executive Requirements include:

路 Good academic background, demonstrable sales and influencing skills.

路 Previous consultative sales experience

路 Experience working and interacting with C-Suite professionals.

路 Interest or experience in business and finance is beneficial to understand complex issues and spot opportunities.

路 Proven project/time management skills

路 Good interpersonal/influencing skills.

路 Ability to adapt and work with a variety of different personalities.

路 Demonstrable commercial experience including marketing strategy and planning.

路 Willing to work well as part of a team, with a flexible, can-do attitude.

路 Good IT skills,
