Commercial Consultant

We are seeking a Commercial Consultant to join the Covert Pillar team, responsible for delivering strategic support and operational needs to Covert Policing units. This role offers the unique opportunity to work within the UK intelligence community, contributing to the safety and security of London and the UK by supporting efforts to prevent, deter, and investigate criminal and terrorist activities.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Own the entire commercial lifecycle from category management to contract management, including strategic contracts at Gold Level.
  • Provide commercial advice to the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) and support both the MPS and National Counter-Drones Teams.
  • Develop and implement category management strategies, feeding into broader strategy and policy development.
  • Analyse data and use market insights to support sourcing options and procurement processes.
  • Work autonomously within a larger team, maintaining close liaisons with key stakeholders and the wider business to deliver improved commercial outcomes.
  • Develop relationships with key and strategic suppliers, driving value for money and risk management excellence across the category.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in commercial consultancy or a similar role, preferably within covert or public safety sectors.
  • Strong understanding of category management and contract management.
  • Ability to analyse data and derive insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to become a trusted commercial advisor.
  • Experience in handling sensitive and complex procurements, such as intelligence software, specialist hardware, and covert services.
  • Must be able to undergo CTC clearance once offered.
