Commercial Consultant - Risk and Assurance

We are seeking a Commercial Consultant in Risk and Assurance to join our client's Enablement and Performance Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to develop a broad range of commercial and risk management skills, focusing on commercial transformation, assurance, and governance. Ideal for candidates with transferable skills, public sector commercial knowledge will be provided.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Gain exposure to commercial transformation, assurance, and governance within a complex environment.
  • Understand and apply risk management, corporate governance, and internal controls within the public sector or large organisations.
  • Manage and prioritise a demanding workload to meet operational and strategic deadlines.
  • Organise and facilitate meetings and workshops across all levels, including with senior colleagues and external stakeholders, to elicit information and secure agreement.
  • Analyse and interpret large amounts of data/information, synthesising complex information into strategic, succinct reports for various audiences.
  • Develop internal and external relationships to support service delivery and influence decision-making through challenge and insight.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a complex environment, ideally within the public sector.
  • Understanding of end-to-end commercial lifecycle management and key aspects of governance, commercial policy, and relevant legislation.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, with the ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships and influence decision-making.
  • CIPS qualification / IACCM certification (or working towards) is desirable.
  • Experience in supply network risk management is advantageous.
Interview Process:
  • Initial CV and cover letter screening.
  • One-stage interview process including a 5-minute presentation and a 1-hour competency-based interview covering emotionally aware, collaborative, ownership, equality, and diversity, ending with two technical questions.
