My client is a reputable contractor specializing in Control Panel and Substation manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and maintenance for high-voltage power systems.
They are seeking an HV Commissioning Engineer for a permanent position, with the first project based in London.
The ideal candidate should have a degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering, with experience in HV Testing and Commissioning ranging from 33kV to 400kV, along with a full UK driving license.
The role includes responsibilities such as installing and commissioning HV switchgear, performing maintenance on HV equipment, and participating in a 24/7 emergency call-out rota.

Ideal candidate

Degree/HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience in HV Testing & Commissioning (33kV - 400kV)
Understanding of Protection Systems (Distance, Differential, G99)
Experience working in nuclear, military, and offshore sites (preferred)
Full UK driving license required

Duties will include

Installing and commissioning HV switchgear, transformers, and protection systems
Functional and electrical testing of new and existing systems
Performing routine and intrusive maintenance on HV equipment
Ensuring H&S on site
Participating in a 24/7 emergency call-out rota
Overseeing teams, subcontractors, and junior engineers
