HRH Community Engagement Officer (Older People) | London, N5 1XB | Part Time – 24 hours per week | Hours of work are Tuesday to Friday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm | £17,284.80 per annum

The Community Engagement Worker (Older People) will play a key role in supporting and empowering older adults to stay connected, active, and engaged in their local communities. This role involves developing and delivering initiatives that enhance social inclusion, wellbeing, and independence among older people. You will be the lead officer responsible for coordinating the services, monitoring and reporting to Islington Council and other funders. You will also be required to participate in fundraising events and activities across all sections of the organisation. The services will be delivered over five days, but you will be required to be on site at least four days and on occasion, switch days so that you are on site on the occasional Monday.

Are you the right person for the job?
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle
- Experience working with older people in a community, voluntary, or care setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals
- Knowledge of issues affecting older adults, including loneliness, health, and social care needs
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging activities and projects
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Must be able to provide physical assistance to older people as required, using safe and acceptable techniques
- Willingness and ability to provide emergency personal care when required
- Some evening and weekend work may be necessary
- You may be required to assist generally in the office and attend staff or management committee meetings
- You will be required to assist and attend HRH fundraising events; some will be in the evenings or weekends
- A DBS check will be required, and you will be required to complete our safer recruitment process
- To work as part of a team contributing to the smooth running of HRH and all services
- To undertake any other duties as required by the Director
What will your role look like?
- Engage with older people to understand their needs, interests, and challenges in accessing community services and activities
- Develop and facilitate programs, events, and activities that promote social inclusion, health, and wellbeing
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local organisations, community groups, and stakeholders to enhance service provision
- Provide support and signposting to relevant services, including health, social care, and voluntary organisations
- Promote awareness of issues affecting older people and advocate for their needs within the community
- Encourage volunteering and participation from older adults in community-led initiatives
- Support older people in using digital tools and technology to reduce isolation and improve access to services
- Maintain accurate records, monitor progress, and evaluate the impact of engagement activities
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies
- To ensure that services are multi-cultural and that information is available in different formats and languages
- To be responsible for the preparation of care plans for older people and assisting them to access the services that they need
- Helping older people to access dial-A-ride and other transport services
- To ensure that all monitoring returns and information is returned in accordance with the terms and conditions of funding
- To manage and supervise all staff allocated to the service, ensuring that rotas are prepared and that shifts are covered
- Produce menus and programs of activities for circulation
- Assist with the safer recruitment of staff/volunteers and ensure that training is up to date
- Prepare a daily risk assessment for the service
- Assist in the application and preparation of fundraising applications to support the service
- Ensure that HRH fulfils its commitments under the service level agreement
- Will be required to provide emergency personal care when required
