We are thrilled to partner with a forward-thinking local authority in West London to recruit for this key position supporting theirIndustrial Strategyon a permanent basis. The councils ambition, encapsulated in "Economic Growth for Everyone," seeks to position the borough as a premier destination for business in Europe while ensuring that residents share equitably in the resulting benefits.
Local government plays a pivotal role in driving growthbuilding partnerships, revitalising town centres, creating affordable workspaces, enhancing skills, and leveraging procurement to support local businesses.
This role, embedded within theEconomic Growth team, will be central to maximising social value and economic benefits from major developments through effective use ofSection 106 agreements. Collaborating closely with Planning, Legal, and Economic Development teams, you will help deliver the councils ambitious Industrial Strategy and ensure meaningful outcomes for the local community.


Key Responsibilities

Process Development & Monitoring:
  • Develop and manage effective systems to capture, monitor, and report on social value and economic benefits arising from major developments, with a core focus on Section 106 agreements.
Collaboration & Integration:
  • Partner with Planning, Legal, and other internal teams to optimise processes for securing and delivering social value.
Data Management & Reporting:
  • Analyse and report data on social value and economic outcomes, ensuring transparent updates to senior stakeholders and governance bodies.
Strategic Support:
  • Assist in refining and implementing strategies to secure maximum community benefit from major developments, including economic contributions secured via Section 106 agreements.
Legal & Planning Input:
  • Contribute to drafting and implementing Section 106 agreements, ensuring economic benefit clauses are effective and enforceable.
Legislation & Best Practice:
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning legislation, policy changes, and best practices concerning Section 106 agreements and social value.
Sustainability Alignment:
  • Ensure alignment of activities with the councils climate and ecological emergency commitments.

About You

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong understanding of economic development within local government.
  • Experience in securing social value and economic benefits via Section 106 agreements and other planning mechanisms.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and organisational boundaries.
  • Analytical skills for evaluating data and presenting actionable insights in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, numerical, and data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of project management practices and stakeholder reporting.
Experience:
  • Experience using planning systems to assess applications and secure social value outcomes.
  • Track record of preparing reports and briefings for senior stakeholders.
  • Effective time management skills, including prioritising work in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
