About the Role

A local government authority is seeking an experienced Interim Deputy Mechanical & Electrical Manager to provide expert leadership and support across a broad range of mechanical and electrical services. This key position involves managing contractors, overseeing performance, and ensuring that service delivery meets critical KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support across key service areas, including Electrical, Lighting, Lifts, Mechanical, Legionella, Domestic Gas, and Communal Gas services.
  • Manage and oversee contractor performance, ensuring compliance with agreed KPIs and quality standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of 20+ staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, such as Programme Board and Contractor Core Group meetings.
  • Oversee the management of multi-million-pound contracts across both repairs and capital programmes.
  • Provide detailed reporting and updates to senior management on service delivery, performance, and areas for improvement.

  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering and/or electrical services.
  • Membership in a professional institute such as CIBSE, CIOB, or RICS.
  • Extensive experience in contract management and delivering large-scale programmes in social housing or a related environment.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams and lead complex projects effectively.
  • Strong contract management expertise, including overseeing multi-million-pound contracts.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to report effectively to senior management and stakeholders.
