Job Overview

The Engineering Supervisor is an experienced engineer with responsibility for managing the performance of engineers and subcontractors, ensuring they work safely and deliver operational outputs in line with contractual. They will provide technical advice to engineers, subcontractors and clients, ensuring that work is completed on time and to the highest standards. They will have good inter-personal skills, allowing them to interact daily with clients and customers.

Responsibilities

  • QSHE: Implement the safe system of work, ensuring that all engineers and subcontractors are aware of their obligations and meet the standards.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all work and documentation is completed in line with statutory requirements and good industry practice.
  • Planning: Advise the scheduler on engineer skillsets in order to build a the plan for the immediate future (up to next week) and plan tasks that are high profile, disruptive, high risk or complex.
  • Operational Management: Manage, control and audit the performance of all engineers and subcontractors, dealing with any issues escalated by the contract team or client.
  • Customer: Manage customer expectations around any task that is high profile, disruptive, overdue or requires complex planning in line with escalation policy.
  • People: Manage and communicate with the team in order to optimise their performance in line with our guiding principles.
  • Finance/Commercial: Understand contractual obligations and cost drivers in order to inform decision making and profitable delivery.
  • Growth: Identify opportunities to expand contract scope and deliver added value to the client.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate consistently high standards of leadership, energy and ownership as a role model for the team.

Essential Requirements

  • Competent engineer (City and Guilds or equivalent).
  • Formal health and safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely).
  • Awareness of compliance requirements across most areas of service delivery.
  • Strong communication skills with good levels of numeracy and literacy.

Desirable Experience

  • Electrical or mechanical qualification.
  • Approved person in one or more disciplines.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining a collaborative relationship with clients.
  • High levels of customer service.
  • Experience of producing cost-effective quotations for routine tasks.
