Senior Building Surveyor / Capital Works Project Manager
Contract Type: Interim (Initial 3 months with potential for extension)
Rate:42 Per Hour

Our client is seeking an interim Senior Building Surveyor / Capital Works Project Manager to lead the delivery and implementation of planned and capital works across their housing portfolio.

They are currently procuring high-profile ECO energy efficiency projects aimed at enhancing the quality of homes for residents. These projects must be delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards, requiring strong leadership and expert project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of capital projects and programmes, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
  • Act as the client-side project lead, maintaining effective communication with stakeholders and ensuring the project brief is adhered to.
  • Provide expert advice throughout all project stages, including procurement strategy, consultant and contractor selection, and contract management.
  • Manage and motivate internal teams and external project consultants, supporting and challenging them to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Monitor project budgets and ensure regular financial and progress reporting is maintained.
  • Implement the latest construction materials and techniques to drive value for money.
  • Ensure all completed projects are handed over with the necessary documentation and conduct post-occupancy reviews to drive continuous improvement.
Experience & Skills Required:
  • Proven experience in managing multiple capital projects, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Strong background in delivering projects within corporate property or housing portfolios.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead internal teams and external project managers.
  • Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Understanding of construction stages, including RIBA Plan of Work.
  • Experience managing large-scale, complex construction projects.
  • Previous experience acting as a client-side project manager in construction.
Qualifications:
  • Degree or HNC in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related field.
  • Relevant Project Management qualifications or training (e.g., PRINCE2, APM) are highly desirable.
