Overall management of a team of support workers, who provide support to refugees, migrants and people seeking asylum in Hackney. The postholder will ensure delivery of a high-quality and trauma-informed service for a diverse client group.
Lead on workload allocation across support workers, and supporting with the management of any complex cases, including live safeguarding concerns.
Ensure that Welcome Hackney provides a high-quality service that is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and aligns with anti-racist practice. The service seeks to support the integration, quality of life, and access to services for refugees, migrants and people seeking asylum in Hackney.
To lead on the delivery of our Welcome Hub, a weekly drop in open to all migrants in the borough, including coordinating support provision, overseeing logistics of hub operations, and involving internal and external stakeholders.
Work with stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure residents' smooth access to both statutory and non-statutory services, in a way that responds to their needs - in particular around housing and homelessness, and supporting residents to find a safe home.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that the team provides a high-quality and effective service to refugees, migrants, and people seeking asylum in Hackney, by establishing effective professional relationships, and maintaining these with other professionals and stakeholders including families, social work teams, general practitioners and other health professionals.
Ensuring that we support residents to find the most appropriate resolution to housing needs in the borough.
Preventing homelessness by linking residents to the provision of comprehensive housing advice, and ensuring staff are supporting residents to make realistic housing plans.
Lead the response to any safeguarding issues, coordinating with internal and external safeguarding teams to ensure situations are escalated and receiving appropriate care.
Lead the development and delivery of our Welcome Hub, a weekly drop-in for all refugees, migrants, and people seeking asylum across Hackney. This involves coordinating the delivery of the hub weekly, ensuring sufficient staff presence, being a point of escalation for any issues or concerns raised, and measuring impact and outcomes.
