This position involves leading a team responsible for managing a portfolio of individual contracts and call-off projects. You will collaborate closely with residents, associations, and senior management to ensure a fully integrated approach. Key duties include monitoring and reporting on programme delays, implementing mitigation strategies, managing cost profiles, and ensuring all cost variations are reconciled and approved.In the Capital Delivery Manager (Special Projects) role, you will work with your team, residents, and local groups, focusing on high-priority capital delivery schemes. These schemes aim to address the Council's Decent Homes compliance needs and involve significant remediation of important tower blocks, the borough-wide Kitchen and Bathroom Programme, and other line management responsibilities. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and security of our residents in their homes and neighbourhoods.What you'll need to succeedQualifications:
- Relevant qualifications and ongoing professional development related to the role such as RICS or CIOB or have relevant experience.
Skills, Experience, and Attitude:
- Experience managing teams delivering high-value capital projects.
- Experience of working within a Local Authority or Housing Association and delivering projects within these organisations would be desirable.
- Strong knowledge of health, building, and fire safety in construction and social housing.
- Experience managing large-scale capital programmes, especially long-term, high-value projects.
- Understanding the impact of repairs and improvements on tenants and leaseholders, including service charges.
- Significant experience in asset planning, capital investment, project planning, and maintenance management, preferably in social housing.
- Budgetary planning and control, financial modelling, and lifecycle costing expertise.
- Problem-solving and forward-thinking mindset for a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build close working relationships to maximise government funding.
- Experience in developing and delivering transformation and change for excellent service delivery, involving staff and residents.
- Strong commercial instincts, networking skills, and commitment to professional representation.
- Confident, organised and with excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of leasehold alterations and building surveying practices.
- Experience driving value for money in project delivery while maintaining quality and customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of PAS2035, retrofit, and sustainability in the built environment.
