Construction Cost Manager
Our client, a leading construction company based in North London, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Cost Manager to join their dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in procurement or buying within the construction industry, coupled with a strong understanding of construction costs and budgeting.
This role requires a highly organised individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, who can effectively manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain procurement schedules aligned with construction programs.
- Conduct accurate measurements and understand architectural and structural drawings to determine material requirements.
- Create and issue purchase orders for materials and sub-contractors daily.
- Negotiate competitive rates, sales terms, and tender enquiries with suppliers.
- Prepare and issue tender packages that align with project budgets.
- Conduct cost comparisons, negotiate favourable terms, and select preferred sub-contractors.
- Design and redesign procurement packages to suit different types of developments.
- Identify and assess the impact of changes on project costs and timelines.
- Raise queries for discrepancies or unsuccessful deliveries.
- Liaise with the construction team, site agents, and site managers to ensure smooth procurement processes.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management within the construction industry.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and tools.
- Ability to understand architectural and structural drawings
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
