Construction Cost Manager

Our client, a leading construction company based in North London, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Cost Manager to join their dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in procurement or buying within the construction industry, coupled with a strong understanding of construction costs and budgeting.

This role requires a highly organised individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, who can effectively manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain procurement schedules aligned with construction programs.
  • Conduct accurate measurements and understand architectural and structural drawings to determine material requirements.
  • Create and issue purchase orders for materials and sub-contractors daily.
  • Negotiate competitive rates, sales terms, and tender enquiries with suppliers.
  • Prepare and issue tender packages that align with project budgets.
  • Conduct cost comparisons, negotiate favourable terms, and select preferred sub-contractors.
  • Design and redesign procurement packages to suit different types of developments.
  • Identify and assess the impact of changes on project costs and timelines.
  • Raise queries for discrepancies or unsuccessful deliveries.
  • Liaise with the construction team, site agents, and site managers to ensure smooth procurement processes.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management within the construction industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and tools.
  • Ability to understand architectural and structural drawings
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
