About the RoleAs a Project Manager, you will oversee the construction phase of housing development projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will play a vital role in shaping Newham's housing landscape. From managing contracts and budgets to ensuring statutory compliance, you will take ownership of multiple projects, driving innovation and efficiency in affordable housing delivery.
What You'll Do
- Lead the construction delivery of housing projects, from start-on-site to practical completion.
- Manage project budgets, valuations, and cashflows, ensuring alignment with Council objectives and statutory requirements.
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to meet buildability, quality, and maintenance goals.
- Monitor progress, resolve challenges, and ensure high standards are met across all projects.
- Take responsibility for handovers, defects resolution, and compliance with building and safety regulations.
- Represent the organization in planning, procurement, and stakeholder meetings, championing excellence and best practices.
What We're Looking For
- Qualifications: Degree-level qualification in a relevant field. Membership in RICS or an equivalent institution is desirable.
- Experience: Proven success in delivering complex residential construction and regeneration projects. Experience in working with public sector organizations, GLA systems, or housing development teams is advantageous.
- Skills: Strong project management skills, commercial awareness, excellent negotiation and communication abilities, and proficiency in tools like MS Office, Spreadsheets, and project management software.
- Knowledge: Understanding of construction processes, building regulations, planning policies, and modern construction techniques.
