A new opportunity has been created at Design Manager level to join a growing, large projects division of a commercial fit out contractor working on projects in central London.

Client Details

My client is a main contractor with a track record of delivering quality commercial fit out schemes in London and the wider UK. Their large projects division in London is experiencing growth and so has a newly-created position at Design Manager level. This role will join the lead Design Manager for the division and have responsibility on project delivery as well as the opportunity to help develop process and procedure in a growing environment. In this mid-sized business you'll benefit from an increased level of input compared to large Tier 1 contractors as well as having greater exposure to senior management.

Description

As a Design Manager you will have responsibility for supporting project delivery on £20m-£40m heavy refurb / cut & carve commercial schemes in central London. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Oversee the design process from conception to completion including design team appointments.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure programme, quality, and cost are delivered to client expectations.
  • Ensure that all designs meet client, company, and industry standards.
  • Manage design budgets and timelines with regular management of DTMs
  • Work closely with the construction team to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management.

Profile

This role could suit an experienced, job running Architect looking to move to a Main Contractor or a Design Coordinator/Manager looking for a fresh challenge. Successful applications should have:

  • An educational background in Design, Architecture, or a related construction field.
  • Proven experience working through Stages 3-7 on refurbishment projects (Commercial CAT A schemes is preferred)
  • A background working on existing building schemes (e.g. facade retention, listed buildings, etc) will be highly advantageous
  • High levels of technical knowledge and a background solving complex coordination and construction issues
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and drive design teams

You must have the right to work in the UK and will be comfortable working 5 days/wk on site in central London.
