This is an opportunity for an Architect with relevant project and construction experience to move into Design Management with a commercial D&B contractor known for delivering cut & carve, refurb, and fit out schemes in a range of sectors throughout London.

Client Details

This Design Manager role is available with an established main contractor with a reputation for working with some of the most recognisable investor-developers across London to develop new spaces in existing buildings. Their project work spans a range of sectors with a large proportion of their work coming in Commercial CAT A schemes. The business has a track record of supporting Architects looking to move into Design Management and will provide on scheme support from Senior Design Managers in the business. The role is a full-time site based position and can provide the successful candidate with experience in tendering/bid work as well.

Description

As a Design Manager you will have responsibility for supporting project delivery on a £60m Commercial CAT A scheme in the City of London. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Oversee the design process from conception to completion (design team already appointed in this instance).
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure programme, quality, and cost are delivered to client expectations.
  • Resolving complex cut & carve, structural changes with the structural design management support
  • Ensure that all designs meet client, company, and industry standards.
  • Manage design budgets and timelines with regular management of DTMs.
  • Engage with subcontractors effectively to ensure quality and compliant technical design is produced on time.
  • Work closely with the construction team to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management.

This role is based full-time on site in the City of London.

Profile

A successful Design Manager should have:

  • An architecture background
  • Proven experience of construction stage delivery of schemes
  • Ideally commercial cut & carve scheme project experience, other sector experience will be considered (UK project experience is essential)
  • Strong project management skills and a background in coordinating with design teams and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, specifically for producing project reports
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently

You must have the right to work in the UK.
