Our client, a leading player in the power utilities, power distribution, and energy sector, is currently seeking a Senior Design Team Lead to join their growing team. This permanent role focuses on overseeing the entire design life cycle of complex utility projects, ensuring top-notch delivery within budget and schedule constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing the entire design life cycle from project handover to final approval
  • Creating and managing critical path analysis and risk assessments
  • Mitigating risks and resolving issues to keep projects on track
  • Financially managing projects, including issuing purchase orders and invoicing clients
  • Ensuring positive cash flow management throughout project execution
  • Managing the design process in line with established design systems
  • Overseeing subcontractor designs, drawing registers, and approvals
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating Programmes of Work to align with client schedules
  • Allocating internal resources, labour, and plant while managing subcontractor services
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance across all project phases
  • Leading the project design team to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery
  • Managing project quality and ensuring designs meet required standards
  • Compiling as-built drawings and O&M manuals in line with client and industry policies
  • Organising project meetings with clients, councils, and stakeholders to ensure smooth progress
  • Standardising project management processes and ensuring compliance with internal policies
Job Requirements:
  • Proven experience in project management within the utilities, power, or infrastructure sectors
  • Design capabilities ranging from 33kv to 400kv
  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, cash flow, and invoicing
  • Expertise in design management, including overseeing subcontractor designs and approvals
  • Ability to lead and mentor teams, ensuring project efficiency and technical excellence
  • Strong organisational and risk management skills
  • Proficiency in project scheduling and Programme of Works development
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of managing client and stakeholder relationships
  • A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to handle complex project challenges
