Onshore Construction Manager required for a major offshore wind developer based in England

Responsibilities

  • Provide input into the GBS design to ensure it is safe to construct.
  • Assess contractor plans for the main construction site and ensure it can be built and operated safely and reliably.
  • Develop and implement robust safety oversight plan throughout the build.
  • Act as the Employers focal point for compliance with CDM and other relevant regulations.
  • Lead construction strategy and work scope development and then ensure delivery through the main construction contractor.
  • Maintain constructive interfaces with and integrate with other internal stakeholders including engineering and offshore construction teams.
  • Represent the employer with key external stakeholders as needed to build and operate the GBS construction site.
  • Set performance targets for construction with the main contractor and manage construction activities and contractor(s) performance against these targets, intervening as needed to ensure they are met.
  • Continually look ahead to identify construction execution risks and ensures that risks to construction delivery are effectively mitigated or eliminated.
  • Monitors construction productivity and generates a set of working KPIs.
  • Own and endorse project onshore construction costs/estimates and construction schedules.
  • Lead verification of Contractor construction documentation, for compliance with contract and standards.
  • In conjunction with the GBS quality lead, implement the site quality plan and ensuring construction quality delivers a quality build.
  • Provides assurance to Package Manager that construction requirements are being satisfied.
  • Leads construction reviews (and contributes to other functional reviews) and implements the construction self-verification programme, particularly for the start of new activity.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • PMP, Chartered Engineer or other equivalent accreditation.
  • Strong safety leadership, with a genuine commitment to HSSE, compliance and quality excellence.
  • Extensive experience leading major civil construction sites, with significant role in Employer or Contractor construction contract leadership team.
  • Familiarity with current industry construction practices for major civil works, and an understanding of construction practices that assure integrity of build and construction quality.
  • Experience managing compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Sensitive to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and experience of implementing these in construction workforces.
  • Track record in builds strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, particularly within the project organization, contractor organizations and local authorities.
  • Understands relevant UK labour law, including human rights and modern slavery, and the management of industrial relations.
