The Role:
So, what will you be doing as a Systems Project Engineering Lead?
- Lead and manage the engineering team to successfully deliver project milestones, ensuring high-quality results within agreed timelines and budget constraints.
- Oversee and manage work packages, ensuring that all activities are aligned with project requirements and objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure clear communication, managing dependencies, risks, and opportunities effectively.
- Develop and manage engineering plans, ensuring all assumptions, risks, and opportunities are identified, communicated, and actively managed.
- Provide leadership across the full project lifecycle, from requirements elicitation through to production.
- Manage configuration and change control throughout the engineering process.
- Ensure compliance with all engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices.
What are we looking for in our next Systems Project Engineering Lead?
- Strong experience managing complex engineering projects, with a proven track record in work package management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships within the team and with stakeholders.
- Prior experience working on defence projects.
- Proven ability to manage engineering teams through the development phase of a project, including requirements elicitation, design, testing, and production.
- Skilled in engineering estimation and production of engineering plans.
- Familiarity with the different design gates a project goes through, from bid to production readiness review.
- Solid understanding of configuration management and change management processes.
- A background in systems engineering, with knowledge across electrical, mechanical, and software engineering disciplines.
- Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams in the defence sector
- A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualifications.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
