Our client is a leading Technical company based in North London, they are now seeking a Trainee Projects Manager to be a part of their team. Reporting to the Projects Manager and Group Operations Director, you will support them on a day to day basis.
Scope of role:
To perform contractual and administrative duties for our client to ensure that projects are delivered in a satisfactory manner whilst delivering against profit targets.
To assist in the management of plant and equipment to ensure operation.
To ensure correct manning and equipping of contracts to provide a safe working environment.
To ensure jobs are programmed and planned to meet customer requirements.
Allocation, programming, issuing and returning of work to/from the installation teams.
Deputising for the Projects Manager in all matters relating to the Contracts Department.
Key responsibilities
- To devote all effort to learning the tasks required of a Projects Manager.
- Review of contractual conditions to ensure that they do not conflict.
- Create project specifications and material component schedules.
- Create Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
- Revise drawings using software - Paint.Net.
- Document control to/from client portals.
- Arrange pre-start activities (e.g. site meetings, surveys, test visits) as necessary.
- Organise and manage any sub-contractors.
- Correspondence and communications with clients
- Allocation of labour for site visits
- Preparation of visit specific information and materials required.
- Briefing and debriefing of installation crews
- Liaison and agreements with clients on additional works.
- Cost management of projects to ensure targets and deadlines are met.
- Review designs and liaise with quotations department over discrepancies.
- BS EN 62305 design accreditation and expert technical knowledge.
Desirable skills and experience
- Construction industry experience.
- High level contracts experience in a client facing environment.
- Services industry experience.
- Experience of dealing with installation works and sub-contractors.
- Proven listening, negotiating and influencing skills.
- Numerate and literate with excellent communication skills. Able to deliver clear and concise ideas to internal and external persons and produce top quality written information.
- Analytical, with the ability to interpret information, news, data and research quickly - and distil the most important/relevant information to build intelligent operational strategies
- Project management and planning skills.
- Proactive and highly organised, with strong time management and planning skills, meticulous attention to detail and a proven ability to multi-task.
- Able to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under high pressure.
- Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision and thrive both on own initiative and as a part of the team.
