A leading local authority is seeking an experienced and skilled Building Safety Manager to oversee compliance and safety initiatives for high-risk residential buildings. This hybrid role, combining remote and on-site work, is critical in ensuring adherence to the Building Safety Act 2022 and fostering a culture of building safety within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit Building Assessment Certificate (BAC) applications for high-risk buildings.
- Act as the primary liaison with the Building Safety Regulator and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure compliance.
- Work alongside the Fire Safety Team to maintain safety across all high-risk buildings.
- Support the Development Team in maintaining the Golden Thread of Information for new buildings.
- Conduct detailed building inspections, identifying risks and recommending improvements.
- Oversee the production of client briefs for fire improvement works.
- Provide expert advice on building safety policies and procedures.
- Support planning, building control, and listed building consent processes.
- Engage with residents in high-risk buildings to promote safety awareness.
Key Deliverables:
- Produce comprehensive building safety case reports to support BAC applications.
- Deliver accurate updates to senior management.
- Ensure clear communication of building risks and remedial actions across the organisation.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
- Experience in residential building management, operations, and construction projects.
- Strong understanding of residential building legislation and compliance.
- Proven ability to deliver customer satisfaction in a local government setting.
- Expertise in compliance software and report preparation.
- Experience liaising with residents, leaseholders, and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills with a solutions-focused approach.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to critically assess proposals ensuring value for money.
- Competence in managing complex initiatives and engaging with senior managers.
- Training in building management or construction works is an advantage.
- Competence in reviewing risk assessments under a third-party-approved risk register scheme.
