My client are a well-established housing association, seeking a Building Safety Project Officer to support the Building Safety Delivery Manager in the commissioning, management, and delivery of complex remediation projects. This role is crucial in achieving budget, time, and quality targets while managing customer and stakeholder interactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property, development, or construction, with a keen understanding of building safety regulations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support the Building Safety Delivery Manager in all phases of fire safety remediation projects, from inception to completion.
  • Assist in preparing business cases, capital budgets, revenue forecasts, cash flow forecasts, and work programmes, ensuring projects align with agreed policies and procedures.
  • Manage the delivery of remediation projects within set budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Identify and manage risks, monitor work programmes against project plans, and implement necessary corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement communication plans for projects, including detailed resident consultation strategies.
  • Work with the Procurement team to appoint and manage consultants and contractors, ensuring a strong commercial approach.
  • Provide data and survey information as required by relevant authorities.
  • Prepare management reports, including financial appraisals and monthly progress reports, and present these to internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure remediated properties meet quality standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with residents about project progress and key next steps.
  • Occasionally attend evening resident meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the business.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree or professional qualification in property, development, construction, or a related field, or extensive relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and related regulations.
  • Proficient in project management principles and risk analysis.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience with SDS Sequel cash flowing software is desirable.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., MCIOB, MRICS, NEBOSH Fire Safety, Institute of Fire Engineers, HNC Construction) are advantageous.
  • Proven experience in project budget management, negotiation with consultants and contractors, and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in delivering complex residential property development projects from inception to completion.
