Next Chapter Talent are seeking a Assistant Building Safety Manager to join a staple property management company based in Central London.

Reporting to the Head of Compliance and working closely with key stakeholders and external consultants, this role offers a dynamic opportunity to provide expert guidance across the entire portfolio (Residential and Commercial) on Fire Safety, Building Regulations, and Health & Safety matters. You'll play a key role in ensuring a safe, compliant environment by advising on best practices and driving safety standards across the board.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the Head of Compliance on all aspects of Fire Safety, Building Safety, and general Health & Safety across the company’s properties, ensuring full compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Deliver hands-on technical training to Property Managers and Surveyors on key safety systems, including Fire Alarm systems, Fire Doors, and Smoke Control systems, ensuring practical understanding and competence.
  • Monitor legislation changes related to Fire Safety, Building Safety, and Health & Safety. Keep stakeholders informed of new developments and provide expert advice to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Collaborate with key departments (Facilities Management, Building Services, Regional Executives) to ensure that planned maintenance and major works align with safety regulations, implementing risk mitigation strategies throughout.
  • Lead the safe management of high-rise and/or higher-risk residential buildings, ensuring these properties meet all legislative safety standards. Act swiftly to resolve any identified issues.
  • Oversee corrective actions arising from Fire Risk Assessments and audits. Work with Property Managers and Surveyors to ensure assessments and audits are completed on time, and that any risks are addressed promptly.
  • Drive ongoing training on Health and Safety issues across the company, providing regular updates and reinforcing Fire Safety standards to all teams.
  • Liaise with external consultants, local authorities, fire brigades, and other relevant bodies to implement and stay current on fire safety legislation across the company’s portfolio.
  • Provide daily guidance and support to team members across various areas of compliance and safety, ensuring that best practices are followed consistently.
  • Undertake any other duties as directed by the Head of Compliance or other senior managers that fall within the role’s scope and expertise.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Level 4 Qualification in Fire Safety Management or Fire Engineering (or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of the Building Safety Act, with a clear understanding of its application and implications.
  • Proven experience in providing expert advice on Fire Safety and Health & Safety matters.
  • Professional membership of a recognised body, such as the Institute of Fire Safety Management (IFSM) or the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE)

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Registered Fire Risk Assessor certification.

Recognised Level 3 Qualification in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent).

Substantial experience (minimum 5 years) in Health and Safety Management and/or Fire Safety Management, with a proven track record of expertise in these areas.

  • Technical Assessment: All candidates will be asked to complete a hands-on technical assessment on-site prior to the formal interview.
  • Dynamic Role: This is a practical, "hands-on" position, balancing frequent site visits with office time. Travel expenses will be reimbursed upon submission of receipts, or mileage will be paid at 50p per mile.
  • Ongoing Professional Development: The job holder will be encouraged to continue professional development, with costs fully supported by the company.
