About us:Join a world-class university where our Estates and Facilities, Engineering Strand department is dedicated to maintaining reactive, planned, and compliance services across the campus for all staff, students, and visitors.

About the role:As a Senior Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking planned preventative and reactive maintenance throughout designated College buildings.
  • Providing technical and managerial support to Technicians within the team.
  • Ensuring adherence to operational, regulatory, and College compliance requirements.
  • Liaising with specialist sub-contractors and other building engineers to maintain high-quality service delivery and maximum system uptime.
  • Developing familiarity with the operation and recovery of all business-critical systems within the buildings.
  • Carrying out the planned preventative maintenance programme and ensuring compliance with all relevant guidelines, statutory acts, and regulations.
  • Updating site-specific work schedules and re-programming regularly.
  • Supporting the team with the allocation of reactive maintenance to ensure SLAs are met.
  • Assisting with the personal development of team members.
  • Maintaining a Safe Systems of Work process and managing permits.
  • Liaising with suppliers, raising orders, and ensuring sufficient stock is kept on site.
  • Assisting with the organisation and completion of water management tasks.
  • Managing and conducting fault finding across all buildings.
  • Dealing responsibly with emergencies and breakdowns.
  • Occasionally working at height, in confined spaces, and carrying tools.
  • Attending outside normal hours to deal with certain maintenance procedures and specialist critical system contractors.
  • Delivering and complying with all Statutory, Company, and Client-specific environmental, health, safety, and quality standards applicable to the College environment.
  • Providing a high level of customer-focused service and participating in training when required.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you:To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria:

  • City & Guilds or time-served apprenticeship in either M&E, or an NVQ level 3 in either M&E
  • Grades A-C in English and Maths
  • Intermediate (or above) MS Office skills
  • Awareness of Health and Safety regulations and guidance
  • Managerial experience
  • Significant experience maintaining and operating building services in a complex building
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and prioritize workload
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work without supervision
