We are seeking an experienced and driven Contracts Manager to lead and inspire the delivery of an efficient and effective non-emergency transport service. The role requires a strong focus on delivering an excellent experience for service users while managing operations within agreed financial and contractual parameters.

Responsibilities

The role involves a range of duties aimed at ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of transport services, including:

  • Managing budgets to achieve or exceed financial targets.
  • Meeting contractual performance standards and improving operational outcomes for service users.
  • Ensuring staff compliance with training and governance requirements.
  • Optimising resource utilisation to minimise downtime and reliance on third-party providers.
  • Addressing complaints within agreed KPIs and implementing improvements from lessons learned.
  • Regularly reviewing contract and depot performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Introducing and monitoring quality measures such as surveys for staff and service users, using feedback for improvement.
  • Managing all aspects of the contract, including operations, finance, fleet, and administration.
  • Leading and supporting staff, with direct line management responsibility for specific roles.
  • Attending relevant meetings with stakeholders, staff, unions, and service users as required.
  • Managing financial accountability, including identifying revenue opportunities, controlling expenditure, and forecasting potential issues.
  • Producing and analysing management information to improve services and forecast future requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience managing people-driven operations.
  • Understanding of commercial contracts.
  • Experience in managing outsourced services in a commercial environment, preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong leadership skills with emotional intelligence.
  • Proficiency in creating, analysing, and interpreting data.
  • IT literacy and familiarity with tools such as Google Sheets/Chromebooks.
  • Experience in managing change and delivering solutions.
  • Attention to detail, consistency, and a solutions-driven mindset.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Compassionate, inclusive, and relationship-focused approach.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

  • Background in patient transport, logistics, or similar services.
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant qualifications in transport logistics (e.g., NVQ/BTEC).
  • Knowledge of HR procedures.
  • Health and safety qualifications (e.g., OSH).
