Patent Attorney - Scientific R&DUK - Remote £120,000 - £125,000Permanent RoleRole Overview:Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment are presently representing a developer and manufacturer of revolutionary components and solutions for the world of optics. Our client are currently looking for an experienced Patent Attorney to join their team and to make a significant contribution to the future of optical technology.Key Accountabilities:

  • Being the company's point of contact for all IP-related questions
  • Support inventors to draft invention disclosures
  • Draft patent applications and/or outsource patent application drafting to outside counsel
  • Prosecution of patent applications with outside counsel
  • Communicate between Inventors/Management/Outside counsel
  • Draft opinions for search reports/office actions
  • Draft third-party opinions
  • Perform prior art search/FTO search
  • Maintenance and development of internal IP database
  • Continuous development and execution of an efficient IP strategy
  • Surveillance and Management of IP -cost and -budget
  • Optimize patent portfolio in view of product landscape
  • Manage surveillance of the patent landscape (IP alerts)
  • In cooperation with internal and external stakeholders support and execute IP litigation cases
  • Support IP licensing negotiations

About You:

  • Degree in engineering science (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, physics) or related fields (preferably MSc/PhD),
  • Diploma as patent attorney
  • An understanding of technological matters, in particular mechanics and optics would be desirable but not essential
  • Professional and profund understanding and experience in international patent law
  • Strong communication skills in English, German preferred
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving tasks, to withstand pressure and high expectations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Structured and organized personality, with confident appearance
