About the Roles

The Finance and Investment Committee oversees efficient and effective resource planning, risk management, and scrutiny and challenge of financial performance to ensure the College can achieve its strategy and priorities. Reporting to the Trustee Board, the Committee comprises senior medical leaders and is chaired by the lay Treasurer.

As a Lay Member, your role will involve providing independent advice, constructive challenge, and professional insights into managing financial and cybersecurity risks in an evolving threat landscape.

Key responsibilities include:

Offering expertise and guidance on strategic and operational risk management. Acting as a “critical friend,” providing constructive scrutiny and proposing improvements to financial and resource activities. Contributing to specific projects or initiatives as required.

Who We’re Looking For

  • We are looking to appoint two Lay Members, and are looking for individuals with:
  • Proven expertise in managing organisational and strategic risks. Broad experience in financial planning and governance.
  • Ideally, an understanding of membership organisations and registered charities.
  • The ability to constructively challenge while collaborating effectively as part of a diverse team.
  • A strong commitment to equality, diversity, and the values of the College.

 

Time Commitment and Term

This is a voluntary role with a term of three years, renewable for an additional term by mutual agreement. The commitment involves attending five meetings per year (approximately two hours each) and preparing for discussions by reviewing papers.
