Job Title: Power Risk Engineer – Remote (UK-Based)
Location: Fully Remote (UK) with Travel Required
Employment Type: Permanent

About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Risk Engineer to join a leading player in the energy insurance and consultancy space, supporting clients within the conventional power and renewables sectors. This fully remote role offers a rare opportunity to work on high-impact risk engineering assessments across a range of technologies including CCGT, biomass, biogas, hydropower, and offshore wind.

You will play a critical part in delivering high-quality technical risk assessments and engineering surveys, which directly support the successful placement of insurance and improvement of asset performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct risk engineering surveys, typically including 2–3 day site visits, interviews with client teams, and facility walkthroughs.

  • Prepare comprehensive engineering reports detailing site quality rankings, recommendations for risk mitigation, and property damage estimations.

  • Use in-house modelling tools to support data-driven insights and risk evaluation.

  • Collaborate with insurers, clients, and internal stakeholders to inform underwriting decisions.

  • Travel across the UK and internationally, with an estimated 80 days per year.

Candidate Profile:

Experience:

  • 8–20 years in a technical, operational, maintenance, or consultancy role, ideally with end clients or engineering consultancies.

  • Proven expertise in steam and gas turbine operations is essential.

  • Direct experience in conventional power plants (e.g. combined cycle gas turbines, biomass, biogas, hydropower) and/or offshore wind is required.

Education & Professional Background:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is essential.

  • Chartered Engineer status or membership of a recognised engineering institution is desirable.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80 days per year.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • French language skills are highly desirable but not essential.

Why Join?
This role offers a unique blend of technical challenge, strategic impact, and global exposure. You'll work closely with top-tier clients and insurers to enhance the safety, reliability, and insurability of power generation assets across the UK and beyond.
