Our mission is to improve everyone’s relationship with their wealth: to make it a positive force for their future and at the same time to prevent it being a source of anxiety. We want everyone who works with us to be proud to work here, and to find fulfilment and meaning in the work that they do.

We are a privately owned financial planning and discretionary investment management house. We are dedicated to providing a high-quality service for private clients, trusts, and smaller institutions.

As part of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you’ll be able to utilise your skills and expertise to deliver amazing outcomes for our clients.

What the role entails

As Risk Manager you will have responsibility for a wide range of duties across all of the regulated entities within the Saltus Group, including the following:

• Developing an integrated Group’s Risk Management Framework ("RMF") to ensure that it is commensurate with the Group’s scale and complexity.

• Acting as a dedicated Risk Partner to the Group’s regulated boards with associated ownership of the RMF and Risk Appetite Statements ("RAS").

• Annual updating of the RMF and RAS, ensuring they are up to date with any changes / modifications and presented to the Group’s Risk Committee for annual sign-off.

• Taking ownership of the co-ordination and preparation of the quarterly Risk Committee pack, ensuring operational risk reporting and management information is shared with the Risk Committee and relevant entity Boards within the Group.

• Ownership of the Group ICARA, including ensuring that documents and associated submissions are prepared, reviewed, challenged and approved.

• Reviewing and challenging risk reporting, assessments, incidents and assurance activities.

• Ownership and management of the Group’s Risk Register, to ensure risk owners are clear on the impact and likelihood of a risk event crystallising within their areas, and the effectiveness of any stated mitigation controls in place.

• Working with Compliance to keep up to date with regulatory issues which may affect the businesses, and in anticipating future risk requirements.

• Provide training across the firm to embed a risk aware mindset.

• Work with relevant stakeholders across the Group to develop metrics (and a Risk database) to monitor risk in the business and to help set risk appetite thresholds.

• Management of the risk reporting and incident log, to capture crystallisation events and measure any risk impact.

• Work with the Finance team to Perform Stress and Reverse Stress Testing as necessary to monitor the effectiveness of the RMF in the Group.

• Attend the Risk Committee and support it in performing their duties.

What sort of person are you looking for?

• Energy and a passion for helping to continue to provide the best possible outcomes for our clients.

• A sound working knowledge of the FCA Handbook, particularly on Risk under SYSC 7 and SYSC 21.

• An understanding of risk frameworks and effective measurement of controls for risk mitigation.

• Experience in using risk-based systems and tracking tools.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.

• The ability to take ownership and responsibility for tasks and projects, working autonomously and collaborating as needed with key stakeholders.

• Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Excel).

• A willingness and flexibility to travel to office sites as required. If you are able to drive and have your own transport, that would be highly advantageous.

• Graduate with qualifications in Financial Services preferrable, either in Compliance or Risk
