Learning and Development Manager

KFS Recruitment is pleased to be working with an award winning London based Short Term Loan Lender. Due to continued growth, they are currently looking to appoint and Learning and Development Manager.

The L&D Manager will be responsible for the creation, implementation, and oversight of the company’s learning and development strategy. This role will focus on building a new Learning Management System (LMS), developing structured career pathways, improving in-house training, and sourcing external high-level training providers as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Learning Management System (LMS) Implementation

  • Lead the selection, implementation, and ongoing management of a new LMS.
  • Customise the LMS to fit the unique needs of the business.
  • Create and maintain a library of e-learning content, training materials, and tracking tools. oEnsure the LMS is user-friendly and accessible to all employees across different departments.

Learning and Development Strategy

  • Design and execute a company-wide L&D strategy that aligns with the business’s overall goals.
  • Collaborate with the Senior HR Manager to assess current training needs and identify gaps in skills and competencies within the company.
  • Ensure that L&D initiatives focus on employee engagement, career progression, and retention.
  • Track the effectiveness of all learning programs and continuously improve upon them based on feedback and performance data.

Career Development Roadmaps

  • Work with senior managers to design comprehensive career development roadmaps for all roles within the company, with a focus on role-specific development paths.
  • Define clear metrics for role success, with measurable steps for how employees can progress within their respective fields (e.g. from Junior Underwriter to Senior Underwriter)

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Serve as the key point of contact for all L&D inquiries, offering coaching and guidance to senior managers and team leaders.
  • Provide insights and data to leadership on the effectiveness of L&D programs, using relevant metrics (e.g., completion rates, employee engagement, and business performance impact).

Apprenticeship Program Support

  • Support and collaborate with the Senior HR Manager in appointing apprentices across the business.
  • Ensure apprentices' training and development programs align with their specific roles and career development paths.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Learning & Development, preferably within the finance sector (experience in mortgage lending, specialist lending, or financial services is highly desirable).
  • Proven track record in implementing and managing an LMS and developing comprehensive L&D programs.
  • Experience working on performance management systems, developing career paths, and setting KPIs for roles.
  • Experience in providing a data-driven approach to decision-making, with proficiency in measuring the impact of L&D initiatives.
  • Experience working with apprenticeship programs, including the recruitment, training, and development of apprentices is desirable.
  • Familiarity with current trends in L&D, including digital learning solutions, coaching, and leadership development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and work effectively with senior leaders, managers, and external training providers.
