Operations Technician – Critical Infrastructure
Location: Beckton, UK
Industry: Chemical / Power / Bio / Waste to Energy / Refinery / COMAH

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Operations Technician to join a leading infrastructure business operating key energy sites across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-performing environment where safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement are at the heart of operations.

Shift Pattern:

  • Rotating shift pattern: (2 days, 3 nights, 4 off, 3 days, 2 nights, 5 off, 2 days, 2 nights, 12 off)

  • Shift timings: 06:00 – 18:00 / 18:00 – 06:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a shift team to ensure safe and efficient operations, maintenance, and process improvements.

  • Monitor, inspect, and control plant parameters, responding to operational requirements.

  • Conduct first-line fault diagnosis and repairs to maintain smooth plant performance.

  • Operate and interpret data from the Distributed Control System (DCS).

  • Support plant start-up and shutdown processes, including emergency shutdown procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) standards.

  • Contribute to safe systems of work, permit-to-work processes, and risk assessments.

What We’re Looking For

  • A time-served apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in an engineering or process discipline.

  • Experience in fault-finding, root cause analysis, and problem-solving in an operational environment.

  • Ability to follow procedures and work systematically to meet operational targets.

  • Strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work, including permits, risk assessments, and method statements.

  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
